Horse Feather’s Equine Rescue hosted an Equine Assisted
Learning day for ERI’s treatment staff. This training assisted in completing DMH
contract requirements as well as building a sense of ‘team’ among our treatment
staff. A special thanks to all staff for their input and open-mindedness. What a
great group of professionals we have!

Some of the training topics included: Cultural Competence,
Gender and Age Specific Treatment. There were spirited discussions around working
with others from different cultures. Insight was given on how people feel in working
with different cultures. Views were noted on the struggles people can have when
they don’t understand others’ culture.

We also had a piece on Trauma-Informed services…

This isn’t the first time Horse Feather’s Rescue has worked in collaborative efforts
with ERI. Cheri White Owl, President of the rescue has volunteered as the Equine
Specialist to aid in providing equine assisted psychotherapy for the women at the
Family Treatment Center in Guthrie since January of this year. A special thanks
to Cheri for her support of ERI and recovery for the community. If you would like
to learn more about how you can help please contact the rescue.
